Patent Office proposes new practice and procedure manual

The office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) has invited comments and suggestions from stakeholders on the Draft Manual of Patent Office (Practice & Procedure), 2026. The Draft Manual incorporates provisions introduced through the Patents (Amendment) Rules, 2024, the Jan Vishwas Act, 2023 and the SHANTI Act, 2025. It also reflects the 2025 CRI Guidelines and recent case law, while continuing the focus on automation, IT-enabled processes and electronic handling of patent applications.
