India’s Central Consumer Protection Authority directs removal of non-compliant explosive substance listings

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed the immediateremoval of online listings for facilitating the online listing, hosting, advertising and sale of Ammonium Nitrate that do not comply with substance classified as an explosive under the Explosives Act, 1884 and heavily fined the company. The Authority reiterated that consumers rely on product listings and descriptions when making online purchasing decisions, and that e-commerce platforms must exercise appropriate due diligence in relation to regulated products.
