FSSAI weighs nutrition table over front-of-pack warning labels

India’s central food authority, FSSAI is reportedly considering a nutrition-table approach instead of mandatory front-of-pack warning labels for packaged foods high in sugar, salt and fat. The proposal has drawn concern from public-health experts, who argue that consumers may struggle to interpret detailed nutritional information. The issue remains under consideration following Supreme Court intervention.
